Bradford Twill - Ken Woods

£90.00

Pochoir - limited edition of 50

Bradford Twill is a bold, abstract print that celebrates Bradford’s legacy as ‘Woolopolis’, home to over 70 worsted mills. Inspired by the Twill weave used in worsted cloth, the composition encodes ‘BFD’ (Bradford) using Morse code translated into weave sequences, embedding Bradford’s identity into the structure itself. Colours evoke the moorlands that supplied wool and the soot-darkened stone of the mills, with the gold 'threads' symbolising industrial wealth. Combining digital design, algorithmic colour generation, and handcrafted Pochoir technique, this layered print honours Bradford’s past — not through literal depiction, but through encoded pattern, symbolic colour, and daring visual rhythm.

About the Artist

Ken is a Keighley-based artist whose practice centres on Pochoir, a handcrafted stencil technique known for vibrant, layered colour. With a background in colour chemistry and 16 years in commercial print, he brings technical precision to his fine art work. Using bespoke code, Ken generates thousands of colourway variants, selecting the rare combinations that balance visual impact with lasting intrigue. His prints — bold, geometric, and tactile — begin digitally and are built by hand using stencil brush and silkscreen squeegee. The result is richly textured work that rewards repeated viewing and reflects a fusion of technical expertise, digital innovation, and craft.
