Tides of Memory with Aimee Elizabeth

Exploring identity, heritage, memory, and the meaning of belonging in partnership with United Art Projects.

Aimee’s practice explores memory, heritage, displacement, and belonging through the lens of her Irish, Chinese, and British identities. Drawing from personal experience, she investigates how identity is shaped through inherited histories, cultural memory, and our relationships to place.

This body of work developed through a journey to Northern Ireland, where Aimee wanted to reconnect with her Irish heritage, while also reflecting on her Chinese background and what it means to be British raised. Through these experiences, she considers identity as something fluid and continually negotiated rather than fixed.

Rather than seeking a singular sense of home, this work embraces hybridity and the spaces between cultures. Through a constellation of images, objects, and words, Aimee explore how belonging is continually constructed through memory, movement, and connection.

In gathering fragments of memory, landscape, and inheritance, the work asks whether belonging is something we find, or something we continually create.
