Caro Blount-Shah is a Bradford-based artist working in print and experimental photography who uses processes like Anthotype, Cyanotype and homemade photographic materials. Under the Light shows paper food plates on the windows of a Cafe.
The Anthotype prints of edible plants are made using light-sensitive plant juices like turmeric, beetroot and spinach. They celebrate foods we can grow and forage for, in natural colours such as yellow, purple and green.
With a bursary from Our Turn, Caro has experimented with more eco-friendly photographic techniques, testing how natural juices and cotton based paper interact under sunlight and UV light exposure. Caro’s research and hands-on approach will contribute to more sustainable art-making and help others engage with nature and make photographs in creative ways.
