Meet the Curator: Bradford Art Show

  • Loading Bay 1 Duke Street Bradford, England, BD1 3QR United Kingdom (map)

As part of the Bradford Art Show, this special event offers a chance to step behind the exhibition and explore the curatorial thinking that shapes it.

The Bradford Art Show celebrates the district’s vibrant and diverse visual arts, platforming the experiences and creative voices of local people at a moment when the Turner Prize is shining a national spotlight on us.

Curated from an open call on the theme OUR PLACE, the exhibition brings together work from artists across all disciplines—painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, film, textiles and more. Whether emerging, established, or creating outside professional frameworks, contributors have responded with bold, varied and compelling interpretations that reflect the richness of Bradford today. This year’s exhibition is curated by independent curator and researcher Dr Kerry Harker.

Curators Tour

Join curator Dr Kerry Harker for an insider's tour of Bradford Art Show, focusing on the curatorial processes behind the creation of the exhibition. Followed by a Q&A session with time to explore other aspects of curating.

Kerry Harker is an independent curator and researcher and is currently Bridget Riley Art Foundation Fellow at the University of Leeds. She has previously curated exhibitions at Impressions Gallery (Bradford), Harewood House, The Tetley and the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery (Leeds), The Hepworth Wakefield, and Saatchi Gallery (London).

For those who want to understand more about how exhibitions come together, or anyone with an interest in curating, this session offers valuable insight into how exhibitions are conceptualised, selected, structured and communicated. You’ll have the opportunity to hear directly from Kerry about her approach, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the skills, considerations and professional contexts involved in exhibition-making.

Whether you're curious about curating for the first time or simply want to learn more about the process, this tour provides a rare chance to hear from an experienced curator working across regional and national contexts.
